Tagalog & the Jazz 3 Concert

Well, today was my CT scan. It was a slightly less than perfect procedure. I actually forgot it was today and didn’t force fluids like I needed to so my veins would pop out. They stuck me four times. Sure it’s their job to do it right, blah, blah, blah, but I know that if I am really well hydrated, they hardly ever stick my more than once. We can’t do other peoples jobs for them, but we can make it as easy for them to do their jobs as is within our power. So I’ll take a little of the blame there. Besides being a human pin-cushion, not much else happened. They put the wrong recording on again. I’m not sure what language it was; Nothing I’d heard before maybe Tagalog?

Well, as long as they give me good news, they can play whatever recorded instructions in whatever language they want.

I don’t know when I’ll get the results. I’ll pick up the CD tomorrow. The reports usually take a week. If there is nothing bad, then I won’t talk to my local oncologist until I get back from Texas. SO no news is good news. We are still planning our trip. It’s a little complicated since we are going to drive. I’m trying to fit in as much sight seeing as we can. And we have friends and relatives to visit. So we’ll see what we can get done.

Now here are a couple videos one of my Jazz 3 parents took of the concert from Thursday night. Try to remember these are mostly 6th graders. I have some older kids who are playing second instruments, I also have a 5th grade trumpet player. I remember it going well, but seeing it on video reminds me how well it did go. This was the very first Jazz concert some of these kids have ever played. This is a great starting point. The sound is “out front,” the time is mostly good, and when the band pulled apart, they brought it back together in a logical place. All these skills were learned in the last 3 months. We’ll keep working on time and “keeping your head in the game” and all that stuff, but the basic 1st level has been reached.

Good Job Kids.
