Survivor, Fat City, the 4th of July

It's been quite a busy few days. Thursday TOFB opened for Survivor (Eye of the Tiger) at the Rosebud Theater in Effingham, Illinois. It was a good show. I had forgotten quite a few of their tunes. "Summer Nights" for instance. It had been a favorite in H.S. It was good to hear "Eye of the Tiger" I had deliberately avoided that tune for 15 years at least. I liked it the first 5 or 6 hundred times I heard it, but talk about overplay!

I was disappointed that Jim Peterik was no longer with the band. Apparently he is now touring with "The Ides of March" (Vehicle). We did "Vehicle" that night and it was cool.

Friday Night we were at Fat City and it was a pretty fun gig. Some of my Facebook friends came out (thanks guys) and a splendid time was had by all.

Yesterday, of course, was the 4th of July and we went down to my sister's house. It was a rainy day but the boys still managed to swim and we ate brauts. We had originally planned to stay the night, but instead decided to come back home. I have some work to do before my next Groove Duke gig and today is a likely day to get it done.

I've been quite tired lately and a little grouchy. (You all needed to know that, I'm sure...) I think it is actually a lack of sleep rather than the cancer, sometimes it's hard to tell the difference. A little more than 4 weeks until I head back down to Houston. Not looking forward to it, honestly.

I've been keeping myself busy, trying not to think about being sick. But of course, its always in the back of my mind. I have to start giving myself the "whatever it takes" talks again.

I'll write more about that over the next few days. Thanks for reading. You might visit some of my advertisers. It's free and they'll appreciate your visit.
